Little Darling

Sailor at six months old.  Our little darling.

Finally, a blog update.  Well, Mike and Fisher have been gone for three nights on a boating trip to the Coronado Islands which gave me a the chance to catch up on a few projects.

Today's catch.  Amazing technology allows us to see the fish they caught even before they get home. A springtime bonus was watching whales migrate. They spotted at least 10 today.

Hunt Bug

Hunter Bug turned two in November.  I have some catching up to do on blogging about the second half of last year, including his birthday.

This boy keeps us laughing.  That's a can opener he has on her back... what is he thinking?

He is a caring, thoughtful and helpful little guy, the most enthusiastic dish washer in our house!  He's definitely camera shy making it nearly impossible to capture the sideways glances that make us chuckle and silly faces that can lighten anyone's mood.

Just this week, at two years and four months old he began talking clearly and consistently.  He's moved beyond baby talk to understandable phrases and mimicing everything he hears.  He calls my parents "D.D. Bah", Fisher "ih", Sailor "bebe", Mike "dah yee", Bosun "bobo", and Aunt Janeen "dean".

Fisher Starts Preschool

Fisher is exceptional in many ways.  At just four years old he is the size of a six year old in height and weight.  He has an abundance of energy, is keenly perceptive, unbelieveably intense and relentlessly persistent.  There is no doubt God has great plans for this little warrior.

In January Fisher began attending Mrs. Gaede's preschool.  Jill attended the same school at four years old.  In fact, when I attended we lived on the same block where her school is still located.  I recently found out from Granny Melba that Mrs. Gaede babysat my mom when she was a young girl.  She shares our values and is lovingly helping Fisher come along.

In the short time he has been there he has learned to write his name.  Here he scratched it in the sand with a stick.  He brings home catchy phrases like "you get what you get and you don't throw a fit."  I like that one.  He even recites the same mealtime prayer she taught me thirty years ago "Dear Lord Jesus, be our guest.  Let this food to us be blessed.  Amen."  The other day while driving down a commercial street on the way to school he asked "Mom, why are there F's everywhere?"

We enjoy our afternoons together doing special activities like meeting Pa at the park to run his remote control boats in the pond.  This is a definite favorite of Fisher's.  We discovered a local lagoon we visit for nature walks and bird watching.  Some days we drive to the desert and collect rocks.  Once a week or so we'll drop in at the office and visit Mike for a while.  The boys love cutting paper and using up all his staples and tape.  Then they'll pick up extra Nextel radios and run around shouting at each other into the radios.  It's quite a sight.

Eight Months

Her first day wearing pig tails - at only 8 months old.  That's a lot of hair!

Our little ballerina to be.

Sailor's first food... farm fresh egg yolks from Uncle Carl's chickens.

We took Pa to the desert for spring time hike.  We hiked near Mountan Palm Spring where there was a very small stream of flowing water and a few wildflowers in bloom.  The boys hiked independently and Sailor quite enjoyed her free ride on Mom's back.

Six Months

Fisher calls her Little Darling.  Daddy calls her Sailor Sue.  Hunter calls her Bebe.  Mom calls her Say Say or Sailee (Fisher's names for her).

She Survived the first Six Months

Its a special privilege to hold baby sister. Good thing Daddy's near by.

When she was sleeping next to Mommy the boys would come
in each morning and bounce around with her in our bed.

Hmmm...  This is NOT how we play with a baby sister.
Where do they come up with these ideas?

Lots of sword fighting goes on in our house.
They're learning to protect the princess :).

Hunter loves to "love" on Sailor.  He lays on the floor
with her, covers her with his special blankee and is
first to respond when she fusses.

What are you doing in there!?
