Fisher Starts Preschool

Fisher is exceptional in many ways.  At just four years old he is the size of a six year old in height and weight.  He has an abundance of energy, is keenly perceptive, unbelieveably intense and relentlessly persistent.  There is no doubt God has great plans for this little warrior.

In January Fisher began attending Mrs. Gaede's preschool.  Jill attended the same school at four years old.  In fact, when I attended we lived on the same block where her school is still located.  I recently found out from Granny Melba that Mrs. Gaede babysat my mom when she was a young girl.  She shares our values and is lovingly helping Fisher come along.

In the short time he has been there he has learned to write his name.  Here he scratched it in the sand with a stick.  He brings home catchy phrases like "you get what you get and you don't throw a fit."  I like that one.  He even recites the same mealtime prayer she taught me thirty years ago "Dear Lord Jesus, be our guest.  Let this food to us be blessed.  Amen."  The other day while driving down a commercial street on the way to school he asked "Mom, why are there F's everywhere?"

We enjoy our afternoons together doing special activities like meeting Pa at the park to run his remote control boats in the pond.  This is a definite favorite of Fisher's.  We discovered a local lagoon we visit for nature walks and bird watching.  Some days we drive to the desert and collect rocks.  Once a week or so we'll drop in at the office and visit Mike for a while.  The boys love cutting paper and using up all his staples and tape.  Then they'll pick up extra Nextel radios and run around shouting at each other into the radios.  It's quite a sight.
